Colorado State Manager is First Dreamer to Serve on a State Board
WASHINGTON, DC – FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement today on Colorado Immigration Manager Marissa Molina’s gubernatorial appointment to the Metropolitan State University’s Board of Trustees:
“On behalf of the entire FWD.us team, we are incredibly proud that Governor Jared Polis has appointed Marissa, our Colorado State Immigration Manager, to the Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Board of Trustees. Marissa’s appointment – as the first Dreamer to serve on a state board – is historic, and well-deserved.
“Marissa is a capable and inspiring leader, who has dedicated her personal and professional life to bettering her community: first as an educator, and now as an advocate for immigration reform. As a member of the Metropolitan State University Board of Trustees, we’re confident that Marissa will use her policy acumen and her lived experience to advocate for expanded educational opportunity for all Coloradans.
“We are also deeply grateful to Governor Polis for selecting Marissa for this important position, and his continued commitment to providing opportunities to Dreamers and immigrants across the state.
“On International Women’s Day, especially, we are grateful for the leadership and perseverance of Marissa and women everywhere who make our nation a better, stronger, and more inclusive place.”
