TALLAHASSEE, FL — FWD.us Florida State Director Ted Hutchinson released the following statement today on new data showing that hundreds of thousands of people in Florida stand to benefit from inclusion in federal relief efforts in the latest proposed coronavirus aid legislation, the HEROES Act:
“It’s encouraging that the HEROES Act would include critical relief for the approximately 721,000 Floridians living in mixed-status families, who have so far been excluded from pandemic relief stimulus payments – including 228,000 children and spouses who are U.S. citizens or green card holders. No one from either party should be discriminating against people who are suffering because of their loved ones’ immigration status, and we urge both houses of Congress to pass this legislation swiftly to help all families who are struggling in the midst of the unprecedented coronavirus crisis.”
