WASHINGTON, DC – FWD.us, in partnership with the Home is Here Coalition, today launched a new online tool that enables members of the public to submit comments making clear their support for DACA recipients and Dreamers. The organizations are launching the tool after a recent court ruling has threatened DACA recipients; the Department of Homeland Security is opening a notice-and-comment rulemaking period as part of the Biden Administration’s efforts to preserve and fortify the DACA program.
FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement as the 60-day public comment period opens:
“DACA has been an invaluable program that has allowed hundreds of thousands of young people to live, work, and support their families and communities in the only country they know as home. Starting today, members of the public can voice their support for DACA recipients and Dreamers, who have lived in the United States for an average period of 20 years and deserve to live their lives with stability and certainty. We’re proud to launch this new online tool in partnership with Home is Here to make it as easy as possible for people to show their strong support, and to boost the Administration’s efforts to preserve and fortify DACA. While we should be clear that legislation is the only way to provide Dreamers the protection they deserve and that is best for our country, this public comment period is an important opportunity. The fact remains that only Congress can pass a pathway to citizenship that will keep millions of American families together. They must act without any further delay.”
